Hair with small curls
Small curly hair is often referred to by different people by various terms, which can be perceived positively or negatively: "4C", "4B", "4A", "Kinky hair", "frizzy hair", "Nappy hair", "African hair", "curly hair", "versatile hair", "curly hair" or even "Cloud", "Crown", etc.
Here is some information and images of hair with beautiful little curls, presented in different states to better understand the versatility of curly hair. Keep in mind that a head of hair generally contains at least two different curl sizes (wider or narrower).

1/ How to show off your natural curls?
Hair only curls on damp, wet, or well-hydrated and nourished hair. Once dry, hair holds its shape. It's best to detangle your hair with your fingers to create groups of curls. This will make the curls more defined and visible from a distance, depending on their size.

However, if you want to make curls invisible, create volume, or achieve the cloud-like effect of natural hair, you should brush or comb them. The more the hair strands are separated, the smaller the curls become and the less visible they will be from a distance once detangled.
Detangling with a brush or comb on wet hair causes the hair to shrink and curls to form strand by strand, not in entire sections.
Water and oil, by their weight, make hair appear wavy rather than curly and shorter than its actual length. But once dry, shrinkage intensifies: the hair contracts even more and the curls reform. So even if hair looks long when relaxed or weighed down by moisture, the spring effect always eventually kicks in.
To maintain the wavy appearance, good nutrition (vegetable butters or oils) and hydration are necessary, or a good dose of natural sebum for those with naturally oily hair.

2/ Shrinkage and versatility
Thanks to its natural versatility, curly hair allows for a choice of different visual appearances that one wishes to reveal.
Here are the different appearances of curly hair:
- The curly state : natural curls are defined. With good hydration and nutrition, the curls unite and become visible individually or in strands.

- The stretched state : curls are relaxed when hair has been braided or tied up beforehand, then undone and left dry. They stabilize in this state, but when wet, the natural curls reform.

- The locs state : the curls are knotted or tangled, lightly or heavily depending on the desired look.

-
The "frizzy" state : the curls are untangled and separated.

With any length, you have the ability to create Locs very easily without a hook, to create your voluminous and light magic cloud with the frizzy state or to leave your curls clearly visible.
These small, curly hairs are remarkable for their natural shrinkage and stretching abilities. When your hair is truly long, you benefit from this characteristic to the fullest extent, allowing you to go from very short to very long hair without having to cut it, thanks to the magic of shrinkage.

These beautiful, small, curly locks allow for a multitude of styles to suit every mood and desire 😍. A blessing not everyone has… Magical! 💫
