Here is some information on the versatility of curly hair.

The natural versatility of curly hair allows for different visual styles:

  • -the "locked/locs" state, the tangled/knotted curls
  • the "curly" state, the visually defined natural curls
  • -The so-called "kinky" state: loose curls/brushed/combed/detangled with the fingers
  • The "stretched" state, stretched hair, relaxed curls without chemicals

There are different sizes of natural curls and a person usually has 2 or 3 similar types of curls, more or less large.

The loops are more or less visible from a distance depending on their size.

Some people may have the genetic predisposition to excess sebum in their hair, resulting in heavier hair, more defined/uniform and looser curls, less volume, and less curliness, with more waves naturally. But once the excess sebum is removed with a cleansing shampoo, their hair has more volume and the curls are better defined.

Those who do not have this genetic ability have a cultural habit of excessively nourishing their hair to protect it and avoid dryness, depending on the climate and water conditions of their living areas.

Others live in places with a humid climate, so their hair is more floppy, supple and hydrated regardless of their genetic abilities.

But if they go to drier or colder climates, their hair visually changes from its usual state.

And these people will need to adapt their hair care routine to meet the new needs of their hair.

Curly hair has the ability to stretch or shrink, which offers many advantages. The strength of this ability depends on the size of the curls.

The smaller the curls, the more the appearance of the actual hair length is camouflaged and appears short.

The longer the hair actually is, the more control you have over the desired length. Curly hair offers numerous styling possibilities and natural looks without the need for extensions or chemical products.
