Finding your hair care routine is above all a personal journey. There is no universal formula: each routine depends on you, your resources, your beliefs, where you live, and above all, your time and energy.

Some people can't afford expensive products, even those considered effective. Others prefer organic or natural products and avoid chemical treatments. For still others, available time is a determining factor: some can dedicate time to hair care every morning and evening, others only on weekends, or even just once a month.

Motivation also plays a role. Some people like to give their hair deep conditioning treatments, applying rich masks like shea butter, and maintaining a consistent style for several weeks. Others need to style their hair daily or change their style regularly, which makes longer treatments difficult to incorporate into their routine.

The basics of hair care

Regardless of the products or frequency, certain steps remain essential:

  • Hydration : Spray with water or a mixture containing a humectant (glycerin, honey, etc.) to keep hair supple. Water quality plays a role: hard water can dry out hair, while soft water facilitates hydration. Climate also influences the routine: in a dry environment, more hydration is needed, whereas in a humid climate, less may be required.
  • Nutrition : Properly nourishing your hair helps to strengthen and protect it. This can be achieved through vegetable oils, natural butters, or homemade masks, depending on your budget and available resources.

Hair type also influences your routine. Oilier hair retains moisture better, while dry hair requires more frequent care. It's therefore important to know your own hair and adapt your care routine to your specific needs.

Adapting one's care according to one's resources and environment

For some people, it's easy to find good quality shea butter, castor oil, avocado, or mango butter at low prices. For others, these products are scarce or expensive, and they will have to make do with what is available locally.

Your hair care routine remains flexible: what matters is that your hair is nourished and hydrated. If your hair dries out easily, you can add a humectant like vegetable glycerin, which attracts and retains moisture. However, be aware that in some areas where insects are attracted to sugar, it's best to avoid honey and opt for safe alternatives.

In desert or very dry climates, opt for richer, more protective treatments. Nourishing, hydrating, and protecting remain the cornerstones of a good hair care routine, regardless of the products you use. The oils and treatments you choose will always depend on your budget, any allergies you may have, and what's readily available in your area.

Your hair care routine should be tailored to your lifestyle, your hair type, and your resources. There's no "right" or "wrong" way to care for yourself: the important thing is to nourish, hydrate, and protect your hair as best you can. Find what works for you and make it a pleasant and lasting habit.
