The "Boulée" hairstyle involves creating buns by tying sections of hair together with elastics or thread. This hairstyle is easier to achieve with curly hair. The tighter the curls, the simpler and more natural it is to achieve this look.

- "Kaka Kabri" in Creole (Translation: Goat poop) , "Cabbage", "Little cabbage" in Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana,
- “Ya ntaba”, “Toufi ya ntaba” in Lingala (Translation: Goat dung) in the Congos (Brazzaville & Kinshasa),
- "Mandongo","Matobos" in Cameroon.
- "Be zigui zigui" in Fang language in Gabon and Cameroon (Translation: Goat poop), "Chicken poop" .
- "Pourou taba" (Translation: Goat poop) in the Sango language, in the Central African Republic.
In many cultures, this hairstyle is also associated with the hairstyle Bantu Knots and bears the same name as the balls.
