Here, we offer you different Afro Puff hairstyle ideas with headbands to inspire you.
The hairstyle called "Afro Puff" involves gathering curly hair together to create a tuft, a mini afro on loose, curly hair. It's similar to a ponytail, but with curly hair in all its natural curl variations .
The final appearance varies depending on the size of the natural curls and the actions taken to achieve a kinky (detangled) or curly (solid, defined curls) state. ( More information on the different states of curly hair can be found here , and on the different curl sizes here ).
This hairstyle can also be achieved on short hair by playing with the appearance. The less tightly the ribbon, string, or elastic is tied back when tying short hair, the more the hair will have a voluminous, puffy look.
The notions of "short or long hair" for curly hair don't refer to its appearance in its curled state, but rather to the actual length of the curls when stretched. Appearances can be deceiving. Hair with very small curls, even when seemingly short, is often three to four times its visible length once stretched. Therefore, the smaller the curls, the greater the hair shrinkage.

Thanks to our natural hair versatility, we have the choice between the curly state (defined natural curls), the so-called "kinky" state (loose curls), or stretched hair (loose curls).
Stretched state (loose curls).
Curly state (disjointed curls)
Looped state (natural loops defined)
