What is the kinky state of curly hair?

1 of 8

The frizzy state of curly hair is created by separating the strands of curly hair.

The strands of hair are separated, which gives more hair volume and a cloud-like appearance.

Depending on the tool used to detangle the hair, the curls are more or less relaxed, partially free, sometimes taking on the appearance of waves.

The visibility of curls in a kinky state depends on the size of the curls. The smaller the curls, the less visible the waves or curls are from a distance. The hair gives the appearance of a uniform, light, sometimes transparent mass .

The so-called “kinky” condition is very different in appearance from straight or wavy hair that has undergone “backcombing”.

The Western hairstyling technique called “backcombing” involves combing straight or wavy hair from the tips to the roots with a small comb, in order to form knots and create the illusion of volume.

Example of creping

When you have naturally curly hair, the size of the curls doesn't matter. Simply detangling from root to tip is enough to create volume. The cloud-like effect is achieved by separating the curls and strands, creating a harmonious blend.

It is best to do this on well-nourished and hydrated hair before styling it.

Thanks to the natural versatility of curly hair , we have a choice between different looks depending on our daily routines, hair care choices, desires, lifestyles and cultures:

  • the locked state / loc s (entangled loops)
  • the looped state (natural loops defined),

  • the stretched state (loose curls),

  • the frizzy state (disjointed curls),

A magnificent hair with enormous capabilities.
